Privacy statement

Protection of your personal data is one of our major concerns. We therefore process your data only on the basis of legal regulations (General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Telecommunications Act of 2003). This privacy statement serves to inform you of the major aspects of data processing in the context of our website.

Contacting us

If you contact us using the website form or by email, the data entered will be stored for the purpose of processing your enquiry and to address any potential follow-up enquiries. We will not pass this data on without your prior explicit consent.

Cookies

Our website uses so-called cookies. Cookies are small text files created on your end-device using your browser. They are harmless. We use cookies to make our offer user-friendly. Some cookies remain stored on your end-device until you have deleted them. They allow us to recognize your browser next time you visit our website. If you do not wish to have cookies stored, you may set up your browser to inform you of the setting of cookies and allow you to make individual exceptions. If you disable cookies completely, functionality of our website might be restricted.

Server log files (access statistics)

The website provider automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files every time this website is accessed, which your browser then automatically transfers to us. These are for instance: IP address, browser type/version, OS installed, website which referred you to our website, hostname of the accessing server, time of the server query. This data is not assignable to any specific person and allows no identification of our users. Profiling of such data with other data sources is not foreseen. This data is solely used for statistical purposes. We reserve the right to subsequently validate such data if any indications of illegal use become known to us.

Interacting on/with/through our website

If personal user data is collected on our websites (such as name, address, or email addresses), this is always on a voluntary basis. We will only use any information you provide for the purpose for which it has been collected.
We will delete your data as far as legally permissible, respectively required, or when storing of your data is no longer necessary for using our website and our offers, or when you request the deletion of such. This data will never be passed on to any third party without your explicit consent.

Please keep in mind that data transfer over the internet (e.g. when using email) may be subject to security vulnerabilities. An end-to-end data protection against access by third parties is not possible.

SSL encryption

This site uses SSL encryption for security reasons and to protect transfer of confidential content such as enquiries which you are sending to the site operator. An encrypted connection is indicated in the browser address bar by changing from “http://” to “https://” and a lock icon appearing next to it. When SSL encryption is active, data you are transferring to us cannot be read by any third party.

Using the “Tidio” chat tool

This website uses Tidio, a chat platform connecting users with the ETM HR department. We offer these contact possibilities to be able to address your enquiries related to vacancies as swiftly as possible. We will collect email addresses, names and phone numbers only with your explicit consent/approval prior to starting the live chat. The exchanged messages and data will be stored in the Tidio application. For more details how Tidio handles your data click here. If you do not need the chat, you can use the Ghostery browser plug-in to block Tidio.

Social media plug-ins

Social media plug-ins normally results in the immediate registry of every visitor on a website by these services, logging their IP address and browsing behavior. This may even happen if you do not click the button.

YouTube

For linking videos, our website uses YouTube LLC, 901 Cherry Avenue, San Bruno, CA 94066, USA represented by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Normally just calling up a website with embedded videos means your IP address is sent to YouTube and cookies will be installed on your computer. When clicking on the video, your IP address is transferred to YouTube and YouTube is informed that you have watched this video. If you are logged in on YouTube, this information is related to your account (to prevent this, simply log off from YouTube prior to launching the video).

We have neither knowledge nor can we influence any potential collection and use of your data by YouTube after this point. For more details regarding the YouTube privacy statement go to www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/. Furthermore we refer to the overall handling and disabling of cookies in our general statement in this privacy statement.

Integration of services and content of third parties

It may happen that our website contains content from third parties such as YouTube videos, Google Maps, RSS feeds or graphics from other websites. The prerequisite thereto is that the providers of such contents (hereinafter referred to as “third party providers”) can see the user’s IP address. Without an IP address no content can be sent to the browser of the respective user. The IP address is therefore necessary to see such content. We make reasonable efforts to only use such contents where providers use the IP address solely for the provision of such contents. We can however in no way influence whether the third-party providers store the IP address for instance for statistical purposes. Within our knowledge, we inform users thereof and respectively anonymize the IP, as far as technically feasible.

We will therefore never pass your data to third parties, unless necessary for use of this website or the performance of our contractual obligations (such as passing on to suppliers, payment service providers or integrated additional providers on this site), or we are obliged pursuant to statutory regulations to provide your data to an authority.

Transfer of data to foreign countries, in particular to the USA

Our website uses external providers with registered office outside the EU for providing various functionalities. This may result in storing of your data outside the EU, particularly due to cookies, active Java scripts and other data processing and storage technologies. We will however not pass on your data to a non-EU country unless the EU commission has determined that data protection mechanisms comparable to those within the EU are in place, or you have provided your  explicit consent after being informed of such, or we have agreed standard contractual clauses with the provider to have your data protected. The Privacy Shield Framework (please refer to https://www.privacyshield.gov/welcome) is under certain circumstances determined to provide adequate levels of data protection for the USA. For more details regarding your rights related to each transfer of your data in the USA as specified below, go to http://ec.europa.eu/justice/data-protection/document/citizens-guide_en.pdf”.

Web analysis – Google Analytics

Our website uses the web analysis services of Google Analytics and Google Remarketing rendered by Google Inc, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.

Google Analytics uses so-called cookies, i.e. text files, which are stored on your computer and allow the/an analysis of your usage of our website. The information generated by the cookie related to how you use this website (including your IP address), is transferred to a Google server in the USA where it will be stored. Your IP address is collected, but/and immediately pseudonymised. This only allows rough localization. The IP address transmitted by your browser under Google Analytics is not consolidated with other Google data.

Google will use this information to analyze your use of the website, create reports on website activities for the website operator and to render other services related to website and internet usage. Google will only transfer this information to third parties if statutorily obliged or in case third parties process such data under an assignment from Google. Google will in no case correlate your IP address with other Google data. You can set your browser to prevent any installation of cookies; however please keep in mind that some of the functions of our website may become partially unavailable.

We have implemented Google AdWords Display Advertising for the offers on this website. This means that our ads may appear on third-party websites including Google. Based on the Display Advertising, we have enabled the Google Analytics remarketing function.

The combined use of initial cookie providers (e.g. Google Analytics cookies) and third-party cookies (e.g. DoubleClick cookies) is the basis to target, optimize and enable ads for the visitors of this website, based on their previous visits.

Visitors to our website can disable Google Analytics Display Advertising using the Ad Preferences Manager and adjust the display of ads in the Google Display Network. Furthermore you can use the aforesaid browser add-on to disable Google Analytics.

You can object to any future data collection and storage at any time. With reference to the discussion about the deployment of analysis tools using complete IP addresses, we would like to point out that this website uses Google Analytics with the extension “_anonymizeIp()” and therefore the IP addresses are only processed in an abbreviated form to exclude any direct identification of a specific person.

We have concluded a corresponding agreement with the provider for the processing of order data. The relation to the web analysis provider is based on a EU Commission adequacy decision (Privacy Shield).

http://ec.europa.eu/justice/data-protection/document/citizens-guide_en.pdf

Data processing is based on the statutory regulations of Art. 96, Section 3 of the Telecommunications Act and Art. 6, Section 1, Item a (consent) and/or (legitimate interests) of the GDPR.

Our concern in terms of the GDPR (legitimate interests) is to improve our website and our offer. Since the privacy of our users represents an essential asset to us, user data will be pseudonymised [pseudonimisation is recommended for legal reasons of “legitimate interests”; this must be clarified with the web analysis service].

Your rights

Your rights include the right to information and access to personal data, right to rectification and erasure, right to restriction of processing, right to data portability, right to withdraw consent and right to object to the data processing of your personal data.
